C-section stories?

Due to a very high risk situation I have to go for a c-section this time around. I am not at all familiar with c-sections. I had my first baby vaginally and every woman in my family who has given birth did the same. For those of you who have had c-sections can you please respond to this: "Things I wish I had known before my c-section".

C-section stories?
first off don't beleive everything you read...


my first was born vaginally but my next pregnancy i had an emergency C section. It freaked me out a little but I ended up healing FASTER from the Csection than the vaginal birth!


I went home the day after my Csection!


I was so much more happy with my healing from the Csection that for my last pregnancy I CHOSE to have a CSEction instead of vaginal!





The only thing I was unhappy about was since it was an Emergency, they forgot to cath me.


By the end of the day (my son was born at 10am) I had to pee so bad and I couldn't go....


they ended up cathing me then and the nurse was NOT happy.... she got a nasty shower!


my bladder got stretched out (no permanant effects, thank God) and they said if I had not been cathed then (from complaining so much because I had to go and couldn't) that it might have damaged my bladder.


so my biggest advice is MAKE SURE they cath you beforehand so your bladder don't get overfilled.


That and DON'T WORRY SO MUCH.


everything will go okay....


pretty soon you will be holding your sweet little baby in your arms and after that it doesn't matter whether he or she came vaginally or by Csection.

Reply:i wish i had known that i was going to have one lol. but seriously i really wish i would have read about them. i wish i would have known the recovery (which is different for everyone). AND i wish i would have known that i would feel them pushing and pulling at my stomach. it didn't hurt it was just a lot of pressure and it was uncomfortable. it actually made me throw up (sorry tmi).

Reply:Well, I had an emergency C-Section, so I was not able to prepare for it. Basically they drug you up, some people are able to stay awake during the C-Section in my case I was not able to be awake at the time, I panicked when they numbed me, I could not feel myself breath, so I thought I was not breathing so they put me under. I woke up in another room that is how fast it went. It only took them about 30-40 minutes for the whole procedure. I was too drugged up to hold the baby so I was not able to hold her until the drugs wore off. They did a very good job at closing me up. I was able to leave the hospital the third day. I healed up quickly and lost a lot of weight. The incision is not noticeable; it's below the bikini line. If you want to recover fast, walk if you can right after the procedure. That is how I was able to recover so fast.
Reply:The recovery! It is harder to take care of the baby while your recovering. You cannot drive or go up and down steps which was a bit difficult because I have a 2 story house. You cannot lift the car seat with the baby in it. They say some women take up to 12 weeks to fully recover. Also, I threw up when they were closing the incision. I dont know why because I didnt feel it but when they were doing that it made me feel really nauseas.
Reply:With my first c section I was put to sleep, so when my second one was due I was so scared of having the epidural. I cried and got my self so upset that i think i made it worse then it really was. This time I am scared of it as well because I imagine it being so horrable, However I am going to try to stay calmer and I do know that if it does really hurt it just hurts for a sec and the pain is gone and out comes baby.
Reply:wow, I had 1st naturally...ouch...next 2 c-sections...easy peasy!!! zero pain, stayed totally with it during the birth...heard all the conversations, joking with docs and nurses....recovery just a bit longer, but no vaginal pain, sore tummy muscles....good pain meds.....10 days and pretty much all ok again....I think the biggest difference was for my hubby, lots of blood and he was not prepared for the visual of me cut open....he was a little spooked by it....but the vaginal birth was soooooo much more difficult, pushing, pain...omg....I would sign up for a c-section any day over that again!!!! I knew my 3rd would be c-section and I was so excited, I practically jumped on the table!!!! blessings to you and babe...
Reply:I knew I was having a c-section. I read up on the internet about it, and watched documentaries on them.





I was suprised how calm I was once they'd administered the spinal anesthetic, I was really nervous before that then I just went all mellow.





Oh and I didn't realise they'd numb my back before putting in the big spinal needle, I was grateful for that cause I've heard it can be quite a painful jab otherwise.
